Required Qualifications and Skills 

  • 8+ years’ industry experience as an Analytics Consultant and at least 2+ years’ experience working for an IT Consulting firm.  
  • Experienced in leading full Lifecycle of Analytics Projects from design, estimation and implementation from a technical and quality assurance perspective.  
  • Experienced and confident to oversee multiple projects concurrently, providing guidance and leadership to the delivery teams. 
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of the Modern Data Platforms including Data Marts and Data Warehouse Design, Data Lake, Big Data, Near-time and Realtime Architectures 
  • Ability to manage client relationships and handle confidently but with sensitivity challenging conversations. 

Advantageous Qualifications and Skills 

  • Prince 2 Agile or similar 
  • Knowledge of IoT, Data Science and AI techniques 
  • Experience in Blue Light or NHS sectors  
  • Certifications: DP-203 Azure Data Engineer Associate, AZ-303/AZ-304 Azure Solutions Architect Expert, PL-300 Data Analyst Associate and similar 

Responsibilities

The Principal Consultant performs a critical role across our projects, working alongside our sales, professional service delivery and our managed services teams. Key responsibilities include:  

  1. To manage a portfolio of professional services delivery projects (typically between 5 and 10). 
  2. To be a key contact between the customer and Simpsons Associates, acting as a point of initial escalation for the project team or customer. 
  3. To deliver data strategy work, engaging with the customer to understand their data maturity, defining a road map and supporting business case creation. 
  4. To architect solutions utilizing modern data design patterns, with consideration for current best practice, cost implications and the customer’s desire for longer term ownership. 
  5. To have one or more specialist sectors aligned with Simpsons key verticals i.e., Blue Lights, Local & Regional Government, Housing, Education, Healthcare & NHS. 
  6. To work with the sales team, to reflect complex and/or larger project requirements in terms of estimates for work outlining both the effort and anticipated duration.  
  7. A Principal Consultant is expected to support a team of consultants delivering a project, often delegating to and supporting a Lead Consultant with the full life cycle delivery. Part of the Principal Consultant’s role will involve delivering the elements directly, particularly on large and complex engagements.
